>> at eleven. police swarm a san jose neighborhood when an officer is nearly run over. and a woman is shot. detailstwo - thousand rape cases in need of resolution in alameda county. now new money coming in to help bring closure. next. >> tonight two people are in custody after being injured in a police shooting in the southern part of san jose. kron four's jeff bush explains how it all started. with an investigation into a suspected car theft. this is where it happened, on the 1800 block of almaden road. police were called out to this location around 4:30 in the afternoon to investigate a stolen vehicle. when they arrived here on scene they found a man and a woman in that stolen vehicle. the woman was in the drivers seat the cuffed man was in the passenger gear and hit one of those officers with the car. in this sihe officer felt his life was in danger. he felt in fear for his life and he did what he had to do and discharged his firearm. the woman driver was shot at least one time and taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. the male passenger was injured as well b

4's rob fladeboe is live tonight in san jose. rob what is the latest? the object of the amber alert, this white 2006 jeep liberty was located just before noon here in the parking lot of a southside apartment complex on amargoza court with the baby still inside. about 5 hours earlier, just after 6:30 monday morning, 11-month old gabriella quintero was in her carseat in the back of that s.u.v. parked here in the driveway of the family residence on amador court. as her mother went inside for something, police say a woman on foot got behind the wheel of the jeep and sped away. an amber alert and the child's photo and susepct vehicle information was flashed across the bay area. one of many tips led police to where gabriella was found. christina calleros saw the rescue unfold. it's not clear what led the suspect vehicle here to amargoza court, some five miles from the baby's home in east san jose. police could be seen going door to door canvassing the neighborhood, taping off large section of the sprawling complex. the white s.u.v. hauled away for a more thorough inpsection. the disticnti

in san jose say "show me the money." tomorrow, the city's minimum wage will go up two dollars. to 10-dollars an hour. that goes for both part-time and full-time employees. it also includes those working on tips. kron four's philippe djegal works out the numbers for the average worker. >> so, this is how it works. and, we'll use part-time workers as an example. someone now making eight dollars an hour, six hours a day, thirty hours a week, is making about 12,470- dollars in a year. but with minimum wage now going up to 10-dollars an hour, that all changes. that person now making 10- dollars an hour, multiplied by six hours in a day, equals 60-dollars a day. multiply that by five days a week, comes out to 300- dollars. multiply that by four- point-three-three weeks in a month, comes out to about 1,299-dollars. multiply that in a year, and that comes out to 15,588-dollars. that's an increase of about three thousand dollars a year. city councilmen sam liccardo says that's good for employees. but in the long run, could have a negative impact on small businesses. a three-thousand dollar ra

dollars. police are still looking for the suspect who stole a car in san jose with an 11- month old girl in it this morning. baby gabriela was found hours later in the abandoned s-u-v gabriella has been reunited with her mother. san jose police was tipped off about the stolen jeep and officer responded. that was when they found gabriella inside the car. officer acosta rode with gabriella to the hospital. the youngster was given a toy to play with during the ride. then she was reunited with her mom. >> she started crying but then became very excited when she saw her mother. he was a very dramatic situationan 11-month old girl, taken amber alert cancelled. police discovered baby gabriela hours later in the abandoned s-u-v. today-- the suspect is still on the loose. officer carlos acosta describing the moments when he found 11 month old gabriella quintana late monday morning. gabriella had been missing for several hours a tip was called in about a suspicious jeep and officer acosta responded with his partner. the jeep was parked and the hazard lights were flashing. gabriella was inside. off

was arrested on campus today for bomb threats made at the school yesterday and today administrators in san jose's east side union high school district are trying to explain how a registered sex offender managed to ride a school bus with high school students. kron 4's dan kerman is here with the story. and what's being done about it. >> reporter: it began with a group of high school students going on a school sponsored field trip to de anza college. these were freshmen. anyway, after the tour the students boarded the bus to head back, but at the time, a staff member spotted a volunteer parent who had no ride. this parent is wheelchair bound and was with another person who was helping her. the staff member let both aboard the bus. well now it turns out that the person helping the wheel chair bound parent is a registered sex offender. school administrators say the staff member violated policy by letting the two on board. that said, school officials say the sex offender had no contact with students >> at no time, based on the preliminary investigation did this person have any interaction with stude
